What can Velocity back up?
SQL Server databases and any files and folders on your PC. A single job can protect one database, several, or all of them.
Where are backups stored?
In up to three kinds of destination: a folder on this PC or a connected drive, an FTP/FTPS server, or Google Drive. Adding both a local and an off-site copy is recommended.
Do scheduled backups need the app open?
No. Velocity installs a small background service that runs scheduled jobs even when the app window is closed - just keep the computer on at the scheduled time.
What happens if a backup fails?
Velocity can retry automatically after a short wait, using a delay ladder such as 1, 5 and 15 minutes, so a brief network hiccup doesn’t become a missed backup.
Will restoring overwrite my live database?
No. If a database of the same name already exists, Velocity restores under a new, date-stamped name instead of replacing it - a restore can never wipe out live data.
How does licensing work?
A licence is tied to the computer. You can start a free trial or activate a licence key, and see the days remaining any time on the main screen.
