Velocity for files
File and folder backup for Windows
Protect the folders your business runs on, with include and exclude rules, on a schedule, to a local drive and an off-site copy on FTP/FTPS or Google Drive.
What you can protect
Business documents
Shared folders of contracts, invoices, drawings and spreadsheets.
Application data folders
Accounting and line-of-business data folders, backed up when the app is closed.
Exports and reports
Folders where other systems drop files you cannot afford to lose.
How file backup works in Velocity
- Create a backup job and choose Files & folders.
- Add folders and files, then set include and exclude rules.
- Choose full, incremental or differential.
- Add destinations: this PC or a connected drive, FTP/FTPS, Google Drive, or several.
- Schedule it daily, weekly, monthly or on an Nth weekday. Failed runs retry automatically.
Follow the 3-2-1 rule without extra tools
Keep three copies on two kinds of storage with one off-site. With Velocity, the local copy and the off-site copy come from the same job, on the same schedule, in the same log. Read the retention guide for a sample policy, and size it with the storage calculator.

File backup questions
Can I choose exactly which files are backed up?
Yes. Add folders and individual files, then use include and exclude rules so each backup contains what matters and skips what does not, such as temporary files.
Can Velocity back up accounting data such as Tally?
Velocity backs up any folder on the computer, including an accounting application's data folder. Schedule the job for a time when the application is closed so files are not mid-write. See our Tally backup guide.
Does it support incremental backups for files?
Yes. File and folder jobs can be full, incremental or differential.
Can the same job back up to local and cloud storage?
Yes. A job can send its backup to a folder on this PC or a connected drive, an FTP/FTPS server, Google Drive, or several of these.
Do I need to leave the app open?
No. Scheduled jobs run through a background Windows service while the app is closed, as long as the computer is on.
